The weather outside may be frightful, but this is a great time of year to venture out and get to know someone new! Whether you two decide to brave the cold together or get cozy fireside, here are some date ideas that’ll be sure to turn up the heat in your love life.

Fireside Picnic

Picnicking doesn’t have to be during Springtime only! Lay out a cozy, thick blanket and pack a basket full of wintertime comfort foods like macaroni and cheese or mini apple pies. Don’t forget the hot cocoa and Bailey’s! Melt a few peppermint chips in there and it’ll be in your very own winter wonderland with that someone special.

Tip: If you don’t have a real fireplace, fake it!

Ice Skating

There’s something utterly romantic about this cliche winter date! Bundle up with your babe and lace up those skates. Even if you aren’t the best skater, we’re sure your crush won’t mind holding your hand for support around the rink. That way, he won’t be too far to catch you if you do happen to slip.

Tip: Make sure to wear thick, high socks so the skates don’t hurt your ankles.

Gift Together

During the holiday season there are plenty of organizations accepting donations to distribute to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them Christmas gifts. Find a non-profit the two of you are passionate about and brave the malls to find presents for the kids. There’s nothing better than giving to a family in need and it’ll leave you two filled with the holiday spirit!

Tip: Look on your local news station’s website to find an organization in your area.

Hockey Game

Take your honey to a hockey game. The fast paced action will get both of your hearts racing and it’s a great way to show off your home team pride. Hockey rinks are chilly, so layer up and don’t be afraid get close to your date for some body heat!

Tip: Check out NHL.com to find team schedules.

Hot Toddy Hunt

Indulging in a hot toddy (or multiple) is a wintertime staple. Get together with your lover and do some research … which bars around you are known for having the best hot toddy? Choose a few locations for your very own bar crawl and rate each cocktail to find out the true winner!

Tip: If you aren’t fond of hot toddies, do a search for holiday specialty cocktails in your area (i.e. hot buttered rum, peppermint alexander, the list goes on!)

Let It Snow

If you live where it snows then head outside! It’s fun to be a kid again. Go sledding, build a snowman, or engage in a playful snowball fight. An afternoon spent in a white wonderland is sure to ignite a spark between you two and have you peeling off each other’s layers in no time.

Tip: Have your favorite holiday movie on hand for when you return so there’s no time wasted getting cozy.
