What Does Work – Openers

Honesty and sincerity are the best policies when approaching women. Avoid using recycled lines and be original with your opener. Most (naive) men think overconfidence increases your chances of hooking up. This is a huge misconception and often-times leads to stupid, sex-laden comments. The more you push, the more she pushes away. Your ultimate goal is to begin a natural conversation. You accomplish this by keeping it simple and engaging her directly. Here are some consistent openers that will help get your foot in the dating door:

  1. “Hi, you seem to have great taste. Any suggestions on what to drink here?”
  2. “Hello, is this seat taken?”
  3. “So what’s a beautiful girl like you doing in a place like this?”
  4. “Can I please get your opinion on this?” (Insert anecdote involving friends/family)
  5. “You look like you’re having fun. Hi, my name is…”

What Doesn’t Work – Pickup Lines

Avoid any innuendo, puns, or pop culture references. You may think it’s clever, but being too forward with wordplay is interpreted as immature and rude. Above all, your intentions are very clear: you are trying to get into her pants. The following lines will get her to do one of the following: roll her eyes, turn around, or throw her drink in your face.

  1. “I’m no Fred Flinstone, but I can make your bed rock.”
  2. “Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only Ten I see.”
  3. “Can I have your phone number? I seem to have lost mine.”
  4. “Call me milk, because I’ll do your body good.”
  5. “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
  6. “If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put I next to U.”
  7. “Is that a mirror in your pocket? Because I can see myself in your pants.”
  8. “How much does a polar bear weigh? Enough to break the ice!”
  9. Are you tired? Because you’ve been running around my head all day.
  10. “Hey, I just met you. And this is crazy. But here’s my number. So call me maybe?”
