It seems like everything I ever want, other than food, is above the $500 threshold, which means premeditated purchases.  While many of us are biding time looking for that perfect millionaire daddy or mommy, here is what you should purchase while ballin’ on a budget.

Handbag

Make this your first purchase.  A nice handbag is an outfit staple as it can make any outfit look instantly luxe.  Refrain from signature and logo bags, as they can come across flashy or under-echelon.  Look for simple, classic silhouettes similar to the speedy or 2.55.  You want to purchase a bag that is versatile for both day and night.  Brands like Coach and Marc Jacobs Collection offer a price and quality alternative to glam bags.

Wallet

It can be a frightening reality to realize your wallet is nearly the same price as the handbag that holds it.  Wallets serve handbags as transitional accessories, as they can be partnered with more than one handbag style.  Make sure you purchase something neutral.  Louis Vuitton and Tory Burch provide versatile organizers to enhance your accessories collection.

Watch

A timepiece is an essential accessory for everyday.  Watches make you look like you’re going somewhere, or at least have somewhere to be.  It doesn’t matter whether you understand the functions of a chronograph watch – get one.  Watches allow for casual conversation point, (he might just ask you the time), and provide an everyday hardware staple.  Look to progressive brands like Michael Kors and Movado for luxury image without the price point of a Rolex.

Denim

Denim is almost an accessory.  Brands like APC encourage clients to wear the same pair of denim regularly, while discouraging laundering for the first 6 months.  Fit is crucial, visit a reputable denim bar or department store to find the perfect denim.
Bonus tip:  When shopping for denim, block out some time and enlist a personal shopper.  As long as you’re patient, finding the right fit is as easy as waiting for that cute sales associate to bring you another size.

Shoes

You really only need a few staple styles to complete a look.  Purchase something classic to extend the lifespan of style.  Prada, Fendi, and Helmut Lang offer refined, quality, mid-priced versatile styles.

Fill in the remainder of your wardrobe with cost-efficient pieces from fast-fashion retailers like Zara and H&M.
