It’s that time of year again to make promises to yourself that you hopefully follow through with! As the year comes to a close, it’s time to think about changes you need in your life to ensure the best of 2016. There are a lot of facets in your life you can make resolutions for, but choose a few that will make you a more dateable person. Here are a few tips to make sure the new year starts off amazing!
Another year came and went and you still haven’t found the one. Don’t worry! You don’t need a significant other to define your life or to be happy. Focus on yourself and creating a life you would be happy to share with someone. Besides, love won’t come when you’re looking for it. It’s okay to have someone in your life you like to spend time with, even if you know he isn’t your soul mate. As long as the two of you are positive influences in each other lives, live in the moment and the rest will fall into place.
Maybe something to focus on in 2016 is being more open and honest with the people you date. If you saw someone a few times and end up not feeling the connection, let them down gently. Don’t ghost on them. Ghosting is when you cut off communication with someone without explanation. They deserve to know that you won’t be pursuing it any further. Tell them, they don’t need to be left guessing. What’s meant to be will be, and they need to know not to hold out for you.
“Don’t look backwards, you aren’t going that way.” It’s cliche but so true! A new year is dawning. Close old chapters of your life and do not reopen them! That person isn’t in your life anymore for a reason. The only way to truly move on and to accept new things into your life is to sever ties with the people or things that don’t contribute to you. Yes, that means your booty call or side chick. Spending time with someone you know may not be around long term is okay, but not when you’re only in contact with them after midnight, one day a week. Surround yourself with people who genuinely care about you and push you towards being your best self.
New Year’s resolutions are put into place to help you achieve your dreams and become the amazing person you’re destined to be! Of course they’re hard to stick with, life isn’t easy. Write these all down and put the list somewhere you can see it every day. Check things off and hold yourself accountable.
